Tragedy struck at Busa Community in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State as a 23-year-old undergraduate student of Delta State University, Josephine Igbokwe was hacked to death by unidentified gunmen, with vital parts of her body removed when she visited her boyfriend.
A suspect, Nnamdi Okoli has been arrested over the incident.
Igbokwe was reported to have passed the night in her boyfriend, Okoli’s house, last Friday and the following morning was on her way home when she was allegedly hacked by an alleged ritualists who removed a vital part of her body in the process.
It was learnt that Okoli did not inform the parents of the deceased early enough about the incident as he allegedly deposited the girl’s corpse at the state – owned mortuary claiming she died as a result of a brief illness.
The State Police Spokesperson, Mrs Celestina Kalu, while confirming the tragedy said the police acted on a tip off after the incident was reported at the Ibusa police division.
Kalu added that Okoli was confronted by the police and his inability to give any useful information on her whereabouts led to his arrest.
She said the suspect, during interrogation confessed that the girl was hacked to death on her way home by unidentified ritualists who removed vital parts of her body.
The police spokesperson further stated that Okoli is currently helping the police in its investigation, adding that he would be charged to court after investigation.
