NNPC Boss Kachikwu Sanctions Staff Over Fraud

A report by Premium Times exposing how some officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) siphoned billions of naira seem to have prompted the director general of the NNPC, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu into action.
Kachikwu has suspended the recently appointed Group General Manager, SAP/IT Department of the NNPC, Surajdeen Afolabi, for the alleged fraud.
The officials involved in the scandal allegedly used an enterprise solution reserved for the purpose of accountability to siphon the funds.
Afolabi had been overseeing the project since 2007 when the idea was promoted by the then Olusegun Obasanjo, as apart of the administration’s reform agenda in the oil and gas industry.
The suspension given to Afolabi by Kachikwu is to ensure that a thorough review and investigation into the project is carried out effectively.
Meanwhile, the head of the seven-member SAP Team, Inuwa Danladi, appointed General Manager, ITD/SAP of NNPC, has been directed to hold forth for Afolabi till the investigations re concluded and a verdict given .
