Fulani Herdsmen Attack Falae’s Farm Again

Some suspected Fulani herdsmen have again invaded the farmland of former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Chief Olu Falae, destroying his crops worth millions of naira.
The fresh attack came barely two weeks after Falae was abducted by suspected Fulani herdsmen from the same farm in Ilado in Akure North local government area of the state.
The Afenifere chieftain, who spent four days in the Kidnappers’ den was released after undisclosed amount was paid to his abductors.
Police however said they were not aware of any payment of ransom
Conducting reporters round the farmland, the Manager of the farm, Bruno Akhighodemen revealed that the armed hoodlums stormed around 2.a.m last Sunday.
He noted that over one kilometer plantation of maize was destroyed during the attack.
He pointed out that ‎the workers’ effort to prevent the destruction of the farmland was rebuffed as they were threatened by the herdsmen.
The farm Manager said Falae, who was a former Finance minister has reported the latest destruction to the state Police Command.
‎Akhigbodemen described the destruction of the farm last week Sunday as devastating.
He appealed to the government and security operatives to act decisively on the menace of herdsmen.
However, it was gathered that the state police command has deployed officers from the detectives unit of Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) to the farm.
It has not been revealed yet if any arrest has so far been made.
It was also gathered that the police authority has invited leaders of the herdsmen in the state who were guarantors to those that were arrested and released during the last invasion when over N500, 000 worth of farm products were destroyed.
But when contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Olufemi Joseph said he had not been officially briefed.
