An operative of the security service, Abdullahi Garba, said that the suspects were arrested last week Monday, October 5, at J. Zebra hotel in Lokoja.

The operative made this known at the presentation of the suspects.

Garba stated that the abductors’ action was not targeted at Falae as a statesman and prominent Yoruba leader, adding that they were mere criminals.

However, the suspected Falae’s abductors admitted that they committed the crime. They said that the kidnap was carried out in collaboration with one Dantijo who had run away with the N5 million ransoms paid to secure Falae’s freedom.

There had been reactions from Nigerian over the kidnap of the former presidential aspirant. In the vein, Femi Fani-Kayode had also written an article suggesting the evacuation of Fulani herdsmen from the South Sout region of the country.

But against such admonition, Garba enjoined Nigerians to shun attempts by mischief makers to give the incident an ethnic coloration to cause disaffection among the populace.

He said: “To this effect, this service wishes to appeal to all Nigerians to be law-abiding and responsible in their commentary on sensitive issues affecting national security.”

The DSS operative further warned the general public that the service would not in any way be slow in action as regards dealing with anyone inciting the populace no matter how highly placed such a person may be in, in accordance with the law.

The operative also noted that the service is working tirelessly to get all those who directly or indirectly contributed to the abduction stressing that they will all be brought to justice.

Chief Falae was abducted at Ilado village in Akure, Ondo state on a Monday, September 21, but was later released few days after.

Meanwhile, Alhaji Bello Abdullahi Bodejo has said that Fulani herdsmen have the right to graze their cattle whenever they want in Nigeria because they are the same Nigerian citizens as Yoruba people.
