The Restricted of articulated vehicles by Lagos state do not affect petroleum tankers-NUPENG

The South West chairman of the National Petroleum and Gas Workers (NUPENG), Tokunbo Korodo, yesterdays, September 11, told journalists that the recent daytime restriction of articulated vehicles by the Lagos state government do not affect petroleum tankers.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, Korodo said the tankers were not affected by the new law, adding that they can distribute petroleum products across the metropolis at any time of the day.
He said: “We are aware of this directive by the Lagos state government, but the law did not restrict our trucks.Tanker drivers can move at any time to deliver its products; we are not affected by the traffic law.
“You can see that our tankers are working all round the clock to lift petroleum products and deliver at designated filling stations nationwide.”
The Lagos state government had on Sept. 6, restricted the movement of heavy duty vehicles within the metropolis to between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
Speaking to journalists on the issue, the permanent secretary, ministry of transportation, Mr. Oluseyi Whenu, said the trailers plying the roads withing this period are contravening Section 2 (i) and 2 (ii) of the Traffic Law.
To this end, Whenu said the state government will henceforth go tough on any trailer and long vehicle that contravenes the law as such vehicle will be impounded and made to pay the stipulated fine accordingly.
