Lagos State GOV.Akinwumi Ambode Swears In 19 New Permanent Secretaries


The Lagos state governor, Akinwumi Ambode, has sworn in 19 new permanent secretaries into the state civil service. Secretaries taking their Oath of Office before the Director, Legislative Drafting, Ministry of Justice, Mrs. Tola Akinsanya (left) presided by Governor Ambode at the Banquet Hall, Lagos House, Ikeja, on Wednesday, August 05, 2015.
The governor, at the ceremony held at the Banquet Hall, Lagos House, Alausa, admonished the new appointees to ensure proficiency in the discharge of their duties, charging them to be committed to the principles of good governance, probity, transparency and accountability. Out of the 19 new perm secs are 10 women while the remaining 9 are men.
Addressing the new head of ministries, the governor urged them to apply the best tenets of the civil service and the common good of all lagosians.
He added that the appointments are from a pool of equally competent and qualified substantive directors and were based on merit, professionalism and proven track record of service to the state.
“You will all recall my promise at the inaugural address on the need to carry out public sector reforms. This phase has seen the merging and realignment of ministries and agencies as well as the creation of new ones.

“We have established the ministry of wealth creation and employment, the Office of Overseas Affairs and Investment and the Office of Civil Engagement.
“These are in line with our campaign promises to run an inclusive government and create better opportunities for our people,” the governor said.
Some of the newly appointed permanent secretaries are Mrs Adekanye Adebunmi, Mr Adeyemi Anthony, Mr Agoro Olabode, Mrs Amosu Sewanu, Mrs Anifowoshe Abiola, Mrs Ariyo Olabsisi.
Others are; Dr (Mrs) Ayandele Olufolayimika, Engr Bade-Adebowale Caster, Mr Bamgboye Abiodun, Mrs Dapo-Thomas Boladele, Mr Kadiri Adebisi, Mr Mustapha Olorunfemi.

Also among the newly inaugurated perm secs are; Mr Odeyemi Adesina, Mrs Odulana Arinola, Mrs Odunlami Adesola, Mr Odupitan Olusola, Mrs Oduwole Olanike, Mrs Onisarotu Jemil and Dr (Mrs) Sodeinde Nuriat.
Meanwhile, the governor has promised to constitute his cabinet in the nearest possible time and promised his cabinet will be made up of qualified persons like the permanent secretaries.
