As Nigerians converged for the celebration of independence from the British government, Pastor Williams Kumuyi, the General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, said in the midst of the recession and other crisis rocking the nation, the desires of Nigerians will be fulfilled.
Kumuyi, who is in Asaba, the Delta State capital, for an independence service on Sunday, October 2, appreciated God for Nigerians, saying the government and the Christian church are working in partnership for the development of the nation.
He said the objective of the church is to move people forward to live better lives and achieve their goals, just as he appreciated Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s development strides in the state.
Specifically, he said the Delta health care programme was a laudable one, even as he commended the governor for the youth empowerment programmes in the state.
Governor Okowa, who received the pastor along with his wife, Edith and members of the state executive council, said he was glad to have Kumuyi in the state, just as he called on gospel ministers to pray for the good of Nigeria.
According to him, “this is the time we need more of your prayers for Nigeria and our state. We need God now more than ever before. The more knowledge of God we have the better for us as a nation and state. The knowledge of God is needed in our homes”.
Okowa, who condemned gospel preachers who are laying more emphasis on prosperity than the preaching of the gospel, called on preachers to focus on the word of God as it is the needed ingredient for national development.
The governor said many gospel preachers are confusing Nigerians with the emphasis on prosperity at the detriment of the word of God, saying the gospel should be given more prominence than the craze for material things and wealth.
He told Kumuyi to pray for the state, maintaining that “whatever prayer you pray for us will work”, adding that “we have been troubled over time because of crisis in the state. We pray that the crisis in our midst will disappear so that we enjoy God’s presence and fullness.”
Okowa further added that the revered man of God presence was needed in Delta. He said, “if you decide to come and live in Delta, we will be glad to have you among us”.

Pastor Williams Kumuyi has commended President Muhammadu Buhari over the fight his administration has launched against corruption in the country. The general superintendent of the Deeper Christian Life Ministry characterized Buhari’s move as a step in the right direction when he spoke with journalists in Abia state on Sunday, October 25, Vanguard reports. The cleric also called for the support of the Nigerian leader noting that with the backing of the citizens, the funds embezzlement would soon be eliminated.

“I am a layman when it comes to politics. But from what we can see, I believe that the president is in the right direction and if we support him with our comments and in other ways, I believe that we will see corruption brought down very quickly.”
Regarding the role of the church in the anti-graft war, Kumuyi said:
“When we say the church, we are not just talking about buildings; we are talking of people who come to church and also go to offices. For the church to support the fight against corruption, preachers must teach our people to learn how to contribute positively to the progress of the country wherever they are. If you are a governor, commissioner, teacher, minister and among others; do your best for the country. Don’t think of what you can get out of the place that you are working, but how they can contribute to the place in order to support the efforts of the government.”
Addressing the politicians, he recommended them to follow their promises and remember they are servants of the Nigerians who elected them.
In a recent development some Nigerian clerics announced their plan to hold a national prayer for President Buhari and the incoming ministers. The prayer would aim at seeking God’s favour for the acting administration and its fight against corruption and security challenges.
The General Superintendent, Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi has said that the war against corruption is one important war President Muhammadu Buhari must win.
The cleric who stated this after the Lagos City-Wide Crusade organised by the church in conjunction with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), said he is praying for President Muhammadu Buhari to succeed in the war against corruption and other reforms he is undertaking in the country.
He urged Nigerians to support the president rather than complaining , saying the president needed the wisdom of God to pull through in the fight against corruption.
Kumuyi said, “My prayer for the country is that the mighty change, supernatural change that God has done for individuals, He should do for our country and you see, God works in various ways and as we see all the things happening, fighting against corruption and all that, we need the wisdom of God, power of God and the support of God.
“My prayer is that God will assist the government to actually pull through until we get to the end of the tunnel in Jesus name. A change is coming and the change has started already.”
According to him, the encouragement he wants to give everyone is that they should have hope and look unto God to turn things around, pointing out that it may not take place immediately.
“God is going to do wonders in our country and things will turn around for the better,” he assured.
He assured that in spite of the socio-economic uncertainties in the country, there is still hope for Nigerians.

The General Superintendent of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William F. Kumuyi and Nigerian foremost gospel artiste, Panam Percy Paul, yesterday stormed communities in Taraba State with the message of hope and salvation.
The crusade, with the theme, ‘Total recovery and restoration,’ attracted thousands of participants from across church denominations as well as localities within and outside the state.
According to the organisers, the crusade which held in three different locations namely, Jalingo, Zing and Bali, was aimed at bringing the message of redemption, restoration and total recovery to the people especially in the face of security challenges bedeviling the northeast region.
Speaking at the Jalingo crusade, Pastor Kumuyi assured the mammoth participants that God was set to bring them out of their ‘Red Sea’ and cross them over to the Promised Land of abundance if they would surrender their lives to Jesus Christ.
According to Pastor Kumuyi, God always opens the door to those who knock and seek Him.
“If you have Jesus, you have more than a man; this is the day of your healing, salvation and deliverance. If a sinner agrees with the Lord, he will be saved,” he said.
Gospel music legend, Panam Percy Paul and his team also ministered in songs at the programme.
Many participants received healing and multitudes gave their lives to God during the crusade. (Report from Leadership News)
